The authors provide an overview of advantages of surgical coaching to surgeons’ professional development and an in-depth analysis of the first formalized surgical coaching programs. This chapter emphasizes the influence of surgical coaching on surgical culture, that adhering to the core principles of coaching enables surgeons to improve performance while respecting their professional autonomy.
