Summary

Survey study at 2 Australian hospitals looking to understand surgeon’s perceptions of peer coaching as a form of CPD and the effect of demographic factors on those perceptions. Of 118 responses across 8 surgical specialties, three-fourths said consultant surgeons would benefit from peer coaching for CPD, including from a nonsurgeon (e.g. psychologist) to improve non-technical skills. However, nearly half wanted further evidence of the efficacy of surgical coaching.
