Summary

In a qualitative study seeking to identify implementation recommendations for surgical coaching programs, researchers at Ariadne Labs/Harvard paired 46 practicing surgeons with one another, trained them in coaching principles, and encouraged them to complete three coaching sessions. From exit interviews and Net Promoter Scores of the coaching sessions, promoters of surgical coaching tended to report excellent first sessions, a coaching partner in the same clinical specialty, and transparency about each other’s intentions in the program.
