Summary

Pilot study created to determine the feasibility of surgical coaching for adopting laparoscopic TEP inguinal hernia repair among surgeons performing open hernia repairs. Intervention was an 18-month program which included hands-on shadowing, precepted cases, and video-based surgical coaching with a peer coach. 2 of 3 participants completed the program. At one year, the 2 participants reported having adopted TEP, and the total program cost $8639 per participant.
